Use this form to generate new Kickstart boot files quickly and efficiently. It is intended to be used only in conjunction with my article on how to build a Kickstart server -and therefore assumes you have stored your source distros in the directories specified there. You can always edit its output to suit different circumstances, of course.
Begin by specifying the IP address of your Kickstart server (the form usually can’t be submitted until you do), then specify the configuration details of your new RCSL server:
Notes:
- Generated Kickstart configuration scripts will only work for 64-bit RCSL servers. 32-bit users need not apply!
- They assume you’ve laid out the directory structure on your Kickstart server as per the instructions here.
- If you say your new server will run Oracle, then the Palmerston shell script will be downloaded at the end of the O/S installation. It is assumed it is available from your Kickstart server’s document root. If it isn’t, download it and store it there now. You should run the script the first time you reboot your completed server.
- Very little checking is performed for the validity of any entries you make on this form. If you type an IP address of 2723.347.37.2, that will certainly be spotted! But if you say your net mask is 0.0.0.0, that won’t be seen as a problem… and your Kickstart script will likely end up being useless as a result.
- Javascript must be enabled for any of this to work!
- Use at your own peril: no responsibility for network or other disasters arising as a result of using this tool will be entertained.
