Adobe has announced the release of a new open source font family, called Source Sans Pro. It’s available as a 1.4MB download from SourceForge.

It’s nice, clean and looks good (to me) on the screen.

I changed my Gnome desktop settings to use it in place of the default ‘Sans’ font, and it’s crisped things up quite a bit. Take a look yourself at the Google font viewer:
