Not, I think, that anyone’s really paying attention, but I’m back from London, having had a great time there. Must have walked about 60 miles in the 10 days; fell back in love with The Tube; was present to see a High Court judge sworn in; enjoyed a Latin mass at the Brompton Oratory and a lovely Evensong at Westminster Abbey (I try to be ecumenical in all things!); had a wonderful time with my extended family after all this time; and much, much more.
I mention it now only because I’ve just deleted my Twitter and Facebook accounts (two of the biggest, most pointless wastes of time on the planet, I think!), and I wouldn’t want anyone thinking I was dead or something!

Howard,
welcome back!
I agree with you about Facebook but private Twitter account can actually be a nice “alerting/reporting” service that can help DBA’s manage servers when they’re out of the office. For example, I wrote simply python script that collects short info about some events on “my” servers and then send the alerts to my private twitter account. With Peep application on my Android phone I can easily check periodically what is going on. Sure, I could do the same with email (or SMS), but then I would be bothered too much with a phone nagging that I have a new mail:). Other than that, I really don’t get why people are so fascinated with Twitter, especially I don’t understand why some bloggers stopped blogging because of the Twitter. I’m getting old, I guess.
Yeah, I had a bash script that would upload my latest server load figures every two minutes to Twitter. I documented it somewhere hereabouts about a year ago. It was interesting to do, but not otherwise compelling, for me anyway.
I got old a long time ago, I think!
